Getting to Know Small Radishes

  2. Cherry Belle Radish

    Another popular type is the cherry belle radish. These radishes are round and have a bright red skin and a white flesh. They have a mild, sweet flavour and are often used in salads or as a garnish. They are also a popular choice for pickling. The Cherry Belle radish is a common variety found at grocery stores in the spring and fall.
  3. Daikon Radish

    The daikon radish is another type of small radish that is commonly used in Asian cooking. These radishes are large and white and have a slightly sweet and spicy flavour. They are often sliced thin and used in salads, soups, or as a topping for sushi. They are also commonly pickled and used as a condiment. These radishes can be eaten raw or cooked and are also delicious when pickled.

    These radishes have a black exterior and a white flesh, and have a very strong, pungent flavour. They are often grated and used as a condiment or in a salad. They are also commonly pickled. When black radishes are cooked their aroma and flavours become milder and a little sweeter.
  5. Icicle Radish

    Typically white or pale pink in colour. They have a mild, sweet and slightly spicy flavour. Often used in salads or as a garnish. The icicle radish is a popular Chinese radish.
  6. Watermelon Radish

    They get their name from their extreme resemblance to watermelons. The watermelon radish is a small radish that is typically green on the outside and pink on the inside. They have a mild, sweet flavour.
  7. Easter Egg Radish

    Finally, the small round radish commonly known as the Easter egg radish. They come in a variety of pastel colours like: pink, purple, white, yellow.
    They have a slightly spicy flavour.
